Coomera Connector

The APP Group to provide Contract Administration and Verification Services for Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central

The APP Group has been selected to provide Contract Administration and Verification Services (CAVS) for the Coomera Connector Stage 1 Central package. We will deliver the services in partnership with our long-time collaborator, Arcadis.

30 November 2023

Stage 1 of the Coomera Connector will deliver a new high-speed road, approximately 16km long, connecting Shipper Drive at Coomera to Nerang—Broadbeach Road at Nerang. It will include grade-separated interchanges at Helensvale Road, Gold Coast Highway, Smith Street Motorway and Southport—Nerang Road and at-grade connections at Shipper Drive and Nerang—Broadbeach Road.

The project will be delivered in three packages: North package, South package, and Central package. The Central package is the largest of the three and includes the Helensvale Road to Smith Street Motorway which combines the complex interchanges of Gold Coast Highway and Smith Street, soft soil areas throughout the Gold Coast Highway to Smith Street section, the interface with Gold Coast light Rail and the Gold Coast Rail Line, and other areas of the corridor.

The Central package will be delivered under an Early Contractor Involvement – Collaborative Project Agreement delivery model.

Coomera Connector is South East Queensland’s largest road infrastructure project and is set to meet the rapidly growing region’s future transport needs. The project will give motorists an effective alternative to the M1 and will help cater for increased traffic around the northern Gold Coast, where the population is expected to grow from 396,000 residents in 2021 to 620,000 in 2041. The Coomera Connector will make the Gold Coast more productive by allowing more people to spend less time travelling to their work.
