Concord Oval Redevelopment

Reshaping a suburban stadium into a high-performance sports and community precinct.

Concord Oval is the local football stadium servicing the inner-west suburbs of Sydney. It is the official home of the West Tigers rugby league football team and plays host to many local sporting and community groups.

The City of Canada Bay decided to redevelop Concord Oval and turn it into a world-class community and sports precinct, providing recreation areas and an elite training facility for the West Tigers.

The APP Group was appointed as Project Manager for the Concord Oval redevelopment project. The role covered the delivery of two multi-purpose buildings, elite training and performance facilities, indoor mixed sports courts, a gymnasium, and shared community spaces.

The site at Concord has historically been used as the Longbottom (Convict) Stockade from 1819 to 1830s and then as a Mounted Police Barracks from 1840s to 1879. Considering the convict history and significance for Heritage NSW, the project team worked alongside the City of Canada Bay to secure a Heritage Permit to conduct any earthworks.
