Supporting Arts Queensland across multiple property and facilities projects.
Arts Property and Facilities (APAF), Arts Queensland, manages the planning and development of Queensland Cultural Centre. Operating under the Arts Queensland through the Department of Education, APAF‘s core purpose is to optimise the performance, longevity, and accessibility of government-owned facilities. This is to reduce operational risk and enable dynamic and adaptable responses to the evolving needs of Queensland’s arts sector.
The APP Group has been engaged by the Arts Property and Facilities, Arts Queensland, to provide Project Management Services as a secondment arrangement to manage various projects, including:
Queensland Cultural Centre (QCC) Lighting Upgrades - Box Lights
Following an external lighting review conducted by JHA in 2025, non-compliance issues were identified across external areas of all QCC buildings. APAF initiated a detailed investigation of existing box lighting infrastructure to address compliance requirements while meeting heritage requirements under the QCC Conservation Management Plan.
Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) Kitchen Refurbishment
Due to the age of existing infrastructure and equipment at GOMA Bistro, the project scope includes the replacement of fridges and freezers to ensure safe food storage, energy efficiency, and compliance with health regulations. Additional maintenance and cosmetic refurbishment will also be undertaken in the high-traffic front-of-house area ahead of its reopening in September 2025.
Queensland Cultural Centre (QCC) Duress Security Upgrade
In response to a 2023–24 security review conducted by Intelligent Risks Pty Ltd (IR), APAF is leading a precinct-wide duress system upgrade to enhance emergency response capabilities.
The review identified several vulnerable areas (e.g., The Edge Plaza, Riverside Carpark, SLQ Knowledge Walk) as under-served. The new system aims to expand coverage and improve integration with Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Protective Services Group (PSG).
Queensland Cultural Centre (QCC) Site Wide Carpark Painting
The 2022 Brisbane flood caused significant damage to QCC’s basement carparks. This project involves the complete repainting of all flood-affected areas to restore functionality, safety, and visual appearance.
It includes coordination with insurance and multiple stakeholders to ensure effective recovery and alignment with broader safety, heritage and aesthetic goals.
