Lifeblood Camberwell and Hurstville Donor Centres

The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood (Lifeblood) is jointly funded by the Australian Government and state and territory governments to provide life-giving blood, plasma, transplantation and biological products for world-leading health outcomes. Their commitment and expertise to providing clinical excellence, education and ongoing investment in research and development allows them to deliver safe, high-quality products.  

The APP Group was engaged by Lifeblood to provide Project Management services for the new Camberwell Donor Centre in Melbourne, VIC and Hurstville Donor Centre in Sydney, NSW. Our team provided program management, consultant and contractor coordination, stakeholder management, tender and procurement management, contract management, construction and defects management, and quality and compliance management to achieve TGA licencing. We worked collaboratively within the Lifeblood construction team to provide value to the client by delivering the highest level of service and project support.  

The Camberwell Donor Centre is one of Lifeblood’s larger sites at approximately 610 sqm and contains 12 donor chairs whereas the Hurstville Donor Centre is approximately 375 sqm with nine donor chairs. Both Donor Centre projects consisted of constructing the donor-facing areas, including reception, waiting room, refreshments, interview rooms and collection floor. Operational areas were also constructed including checking packing space, Temperature Monitored Store and team room. Both centres were delivered to meet specific requirements to achieve licensing from the Therapeutic Goods Administration.  

At the heart of this project is the value that it provides to the community. The Donor Centres in both locations have improved the accessibility and contributes to maximising the collection of life-giving blood, plasma, transplantation and biological products to make meaningful health impacts across the country.
