West Woolgoolga Sports Complex will offer a range of uses for the local community

The new multipurpose West Woolgoolga Sports Complex on the mid-north coast of NSW is about to take shape, with construction commencing in 2021. APP’s Northern NSW office is managing the delivery of the integrated sport and community facility, which will service the entire Northern Beaches community.
West Woolgoolga Sports Complex will offer a range of uses for the local community

The project is set to transform an existing, undeveloped site to the Northern edge of the town into a community-friendly sports hub, with facilities including:

  • adaptable playing fields to cater for community cricket, AFL, rugby, soccer and touch football fixtures and competitive tournaments;
  • field lighting to allow for day and night-time operations;
  • new roadways, carparking, drainage and civil infrastructure to support the site operations;
  • a new Indoor Sports Northern Beaches Multi-Purpose Centre (NBMPC) Building including a Café, Function Rooms catering for up to 1000 guests, Change facilities, two Indoor Sports Courts and Stage for community usage and landscaped surrounds.

APP was initially appointed in March 2020. The project has been through a condensed program timeline, with the design phases of the project covering concept, schematic, detailed and tender, delivered within 8 months. APP has managed these design phases, with Populous as Principal Design Consultant and architect. APP was invited to tender for this project, off the back of our expertise in delivering sporting venues and facilities, including the successful completion of C.ex Coffs International Stadium in 2019.

As Project Manager, APP is responsible for managing the delivery of the new complex on behalf of Coffs Harbour City Council, providing specialist project management services to assist Council in meeting its Federal and State Government funding requirements and compressed program. Our focus is to ensure the best procurement approach and address any challenges before they become critical.

The project is the result of 10 years of community consultation and support for a facility in the region. The new complex is expected to be completed towards the end of 2022.
