Shining lights – five APP staff selected for 500 Women in Property program

APP is thrilled to have five team members selected as mentees as well as a further six senior level staff as mentors this year. The program has proven to achieve a significant and sustainable increase in the number of women in senior leadership positions in the property industry.

Commit. Champion. Lead. This the tag line for Property Council’s Diversity Committee’s nationwide sponsorship program. The initiative enables men and women in the property industry to champion women in their organisation and support their professional development as well as connecting them to opportunities in the industry.

APP team members taking part in this year’s 500 Women in Property program are:

Monica Villani, Senior Project Manager
Sponsor: Tynan John, Head of Projects - Victoria - APP

Monica began her career with a building contractor where her primary roles were project support and contract administration. She then moved into client-side project management where she completed consulting roles on large scale health and aged care projects. Since joining APP in 2016, she has expanded her knowledge and capability in contract administration, programme management and design management across the retail and commercial sectors. Monica is an honest and respectful person, who thrives on delivering under pressure and is skilled at balancing priorities, working to deadlines and managing expectations when dealing with competing interests. A strong and effective communicator, both informally and formally, she enjoys the challenge of managing multiple stakeholder interests as part of bringing the wider group together to solve problems and deliver a positive outcome.

Emely Maas, Project Manager
Sponsor: Cliff Winby, Regional Manager WA - Brookfield Properties

Over the past seven years working in architecture and project management, Emely has provided clients with a diverse knowledge and skillset that is tailored to project requirements. She has a demonstrated history of working in the building and construction industry and strong track record working in residential, retail, office fitout and healthcare planning projects. In addition to her extensive experience, Emely is skilled in Urban and Master Planning, advertising, client-side consultation, stakeholder consultation, and project management.

Sarah Norday, Project Manager
Sponsor: Ross Elliott, Regional General Manager - APP

Sarah joined APP after being accepted into the graduate program and once on board, it was clear that Sarah would become a trailblazer in our business. She quickly got up to speed with project management, which was nicely complimented by her Bachelor of Urban Development majoring in Property Economics. Sarah has gone from strength to strength working in the Health and Commercial sectors.

Emma Warton, Graduate

After completing a Bachelor of Architecture at University of Sydney, Emma was accepted to APP’s graduate program. Emma is looking forward to developing her skill and knowledge within a close-knit and experienced team, gaining exposure to a variety of projects, and developing both new and existing skills in a supportive environment.

Celia Chirnside, Project Manager
Sponsor: Julia Gentile, Senior Project Manager - APP

Celia is an Assistant Project Manager in APP’s Melbourne team. After graduating with with Honours from Urban and Regional Planning, she joined APP, working on a range of projects including the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix. After a year in Melbourne, Celia headed home to Adelaide where she was promoted to Assistant Project Manager. In this new role she took on a new direction, working on Defence projects as well as assisting with large audits involving multiple contractors and stakeholders.

We are also proud to share that Stuart Bell, Regional General Manager, WA and Josh Grafton, Project Director in WA are also a part of the program as mentors this year. Stuart will be sponsoring Kelly Dyball, Manager, Developments at Brookfield Properties, and Josh will be sponsoring Kati Meijer, Assistant Manager, Developments at Brookfield Properties.
