The 250-room luxury hotel includes 21 suites, 2 restaurants, conferencing for 400+ pax, function facilities, rooftop pool, cocktail bar and day spa.
APP was appointed in 2017 to assist Vicinity Centres with the detailed planning, consulting and design management services. In early 2018 Vicinity Centres announced the hotel would be labelled MGallery by Sofitel and they would partner with Accor to operate the hotel under an HMA arrangement.
APP administered the tender process and Hickory Group were awarded the contract, commencing construction in mid-2018, focussing on the curtain wall façade and hotel room prototyping to ensure the overall achievement of the programme.
In late 2018, APP managed the direct procurement of hotel case goods, hotel FFE, and the hotel AV/IT and OSE through procurement consultants. As well as managing the design of the integrated fitout, including all interiors, AV and IT, specialist lighting and all specialist hotel equipment.
Fitout commenced in early 2019 with APP acting as superintendent for the head contract and key FFE contracts, managing the logistics of the integrated fitout and delivery.
Practical completion was achieved across the different components throughout September and early October 2019, leading to a successful sequence of pre-opening activities and enabling the hotel to reach its 1 November 2019 opening date.
Designed in collaboration with DWP, EDG and Bates Smart, the 12-storey hotel is connected to the Chadstone shopping centre and is targeting a 5 Star Green Star Design and As Built rating, the first 5-star hotel to receive the certification.
It has been an exciting project to be involved with and we’re delighted to see the first guests enjoying the new hotel. Congratulations to Vicinity Centres and Accor, and to our project team, led by Josh Whiteley on the delivery of this amazing hotel.
