ACC are the largest vertically integrated beef supply chain business in Australia. They are a family owned and operated business that spans cattle breeding and farming through primary and further processing, value adding, retail packing and distribution. The staged upgrade at the Cannon Hill facility is enabling ACC to diversify their supply chain and provide new product supply requirements for new and existing customers.
The second stage of the project involved further development of the works in stage one to increase production capacity and improve the working environment. This included new equipment installations in the production area along with the necessary structural, building services and safety modification requirements.
The works were largely carried out in a 10-day shutdown of the processing facility with full production required to be achieved on the day immediately following completion. To achieve this there was considerable planning undertaken prior to the shutdown to ensure that all resources and equipment were available and scheduled to meet the strict timeline requirements. It also required considerable effort in the operational commissioning of the completed equipment installation just prior to start up.
The stage two works benefited from the lessons learnt from stage one. Refinements on design of the equipment and efficiencies on the installation works were able to be made based on the experience gained in the 10-day production shutdown that occurred in November last year.
The construction works were successfully carried out with strict controls to eliminate the chance of COVID-19 being brought into the processing facility.
APP is proud to be working with ACC and their project partners on this major business investment.
