Our GP team work exceptionally hard to ensure the challenging project is delivered on time, to the world-class standards expected of an international event and continue to improve each year on the previous year’s event which is famed as one of the world’s most complex temporary infrastructure projects.
In addition to the construction of the race track, the 225ha public parkland site must also house media, corporate, hospitality and entertainment facilities as well as the necessary traffic and transportation requirements. Following the Grand Prix, APP is also responsible for dismantling the circuit and restoring Albert Park to its original state.
Although we’re given a narrow window of nine weeks in which to build the track and associated infrastructure, it takes almost a year of meticulous planning to get all the requirements in place. This is followed by another intensive six weeks of deconstructing the facilities to return Albert Park to the Melbourne community, and if the previous years are any indication, we can look forward to an even bigger and better event this year.
