The NorthConnex project comprises 9km tolled twin tunnels, Southern and Northern interchanges at Pennant Hills Road / M2 Motorway and M1 Pacific Motorway / Pennant Hills Road respectively, ventilation stations, a Motorway Control Centre and widening of the existing M2.
Construction will commence in February and on completion in September 2019 the tunnels will link the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the Hills M2 Motorway at the Pennant Hills Road interchange at West Pennant Hills.
As Independent Certifier (IC) APP Corporation and Hyder will be required to review and verify the design and construction of the tunnels and associated infrastructure is being built according to the contract documentation by the D & C Joint Venture between Lend Lease and Bouygues. APP and Hyder are a leader in the provision of IC services for major infrastructure projects across Australia, including Brisbane Airport Link, Adelaide Desalination Project, Sydney’s North West Rail Link, Gold Coast Rapid Transit and Seaford Rail extension in South Australia.
The NorthConnex project is one of a number of new projects for APP as it targets the infrastructure spending occurring in Australia.
Adam Castro, APP’s Chief Executive Officer says: “Providing IV and IC services on Australia’s most significant infrastructure projects over the last 10 years, means we have the specialist experience and resources that Government agencies, financiers and contractors demand on multi-billion dollar projects. NorthConnex represents the missing link which will deliver an integrated motorway network capable of servicing the predicted growth for north-western Sydney. Our focus as Independent Certifier is to work together with all the stakeholders and we look forward to the next four years as the project comes to fruition."
