APP welcomes new Project Directors

1. Rowan Huppert - Project Director, Aged Care - Sydney

Continuing APP’s growing investment in aged care, Rowan joins the team as Project Director.

With a depth of experience in design and construction management of Aged Care and Retirement Living projects, Rowan will be partnering with our clients on feasibility, planning and delivery of projects throughout the Seniors Living sector, whether greenfield, brownfield or refurbishment of existing underperforming stock.

Rowan has worked with many not for profit and commercial operators previously, including Baptist Care, Anglicare, Wesley Mission, The Whiddon Group and others.

With a sharp mind, strong ability to understand and get to the core of problems with a focus on achieving efficient solutions, keen ability to analyse programs and budgets to ensure delivery in line with targets, plus genuine understanding of operator needs, Rowan will be a great asset to APP and our clients, previous and new, as we grow our Seniors Living offering in NSW and beyond.

2. Mike Robinson - Project Director, Health – Sydney

Mike joins APP’s Health team bringing extensive experience in both Private and Public Health. He has worked on major health projects, including Prince Alfred Private Hospital - NSW, St George Hospital, Emergency Department and facilities – Kogarah and Sydney South West Private Hospital – Liverpool.

With a skillset that covers most aspects of property development and project management, Mike brings expertise in leadership, property acquisition, planning regulations, value engineering, design management, and project planning, procurement, delivery, and commissioning.

Mike will lead APP’s Sydney Health team with an immediate focus to best position the company in securing the impending large private health opportunities across the State as well as smaller regional public health projects.

 3. Lee Chersterfield - Project Director, Defence – Canberra

Lee Chesterfield joins the APP team in Canberra as Project Director after 15 years of combined Defence, private sector program and project management experience. Most recently, Lee successfully performed the role of Program Director for Defence’s new Air Combat Capability project, responsible for leading and managing the construction phase.

Lee has an extensive knowledge of project and program management best practices, with expertise in the planning and execution of complex Defence infrastructure and facilities projects.

At APP, Lee will focus on continuing to build the groups capability in the Defence sector through delivering value for our clients and empowering and leading our project teams.

4. Ross Payne - Project Director, Asset and Portfolio Solutions – Sydney

Joining the Asset and Portfolio Solutions team, Ross will focus on APP’s increased investments across heavy Infrastructure Rail, Navy and Road. Joining the Asset and Portfolio Solutions team, Ross will focus on APP’s increased investments across heavy Infrastructure Rail, Navy and Road.

For the past 25 years, Ross has developed his expertise in assisting and empowering organisations to improve their Supply Chain and Logistics performance. He has completed project work for many reputable national and global companies including BHP, Queensland Rail, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca, Colgate and Boral.

With extensive experience delivering major contracts for the design, manufacturing and installation of systems and equipment, he is well versed in Supply Chain Benchmarking, Business Development in Transport and Logistics, Industrial/Heavy Haul Sales and Contract Management, Project Management, Factory and Operations Management and Customer Relations.

 5. Carla Leighton - Project Director, Asset and Portfolio Solutions -Sydney

Following a successful career in the Oil and Gas industry, Carla Leighton joins APP as Project Director  within our Asset and Portfolio Solutions division. In an environment where organisations seek to extract greater value from their entire portfolio and business operation, Carla brings innovative solutions and fresh thinking to clients looking to improve their productivity. Carla is a qualified and experienced National Maintenance and Operations Leader with 12 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, 6 years in the maintenance team for fuel and convenience retail, of which 4 years have been spent as the Head of Maintenance. In her time at Ampol, she was instrumental in guiding the organisation through significant change in a short period of time. 

Overseeing critical functions, Carla has ensured assets and facilities are operated within defined strategic and operational performance range, with a specific focus on capital expenditure, operating expenses, and investment returns. Carla also has a rich history of delivering asset portfolio value growth with the preparation and maintenance of short and long-term asset management and maintenance plans. 

APP’s Asset Management lead Roger Ingram says Carla’s experience will provide APP clients the right tools to address operational challenges leveraging data insights and technology systems. “Carla has the ability to offer tailored solutions to meet specific organisational requirements and the capability to support our clients in the change management required to unlock growth outcomes.”

6. Ryan Grant - Project Director, Projects - Melbourne

APP is pleased to welcome Ryan Grant as Project Director, who will lead the company’s pursuit of opportunities in the residential sector in Victoria.

Ryan has extensive experience in project engineering and management, having worked on large-scale projects in Australia and the UK. His experience ranges from project managing shop fit-outs, mining infrastructure upgrades and hotel constructions to international multibillion-dollar developments, including project director for a $2 billion four-tower residential, hotel, and retail development in Melbourne CBD. 

Ryan’s immediate priorities include relationship building with key stakeholders and developing a team culture that achieves collaborative outcomes. Ryan is excited by the opportunity to contribute to the company’s reputation and success in supporting clients across all phases of the asset capital investment lifecycle. 

As a diligent strategic planner, Ryan offers clients diverse options and solutions to best suit specific project requirements. This experience in managing end-to-end complex development projects will further strengthen APP’s position within the Residential and Hotel sectors in Victoria.
