The two-level building sits on a 3,000m2 site on the busy High Street in Kew East. The ground floor is the front of house function space and includes a 115-seat chapel, a 135m2 celebration lounge with catering kitchen, a private viewing room and three arrangement rooms. The second floor has office space for four staff with additional staff amenity.
The design incorporates significant glazing, allowing an abundance of natural light into the main service spaces. In the chapel this is achieved through the installation of a curtain wall and large format skylights in the raked ceiling.
The central courtyard has been built around a circular water feature and is framed by high level glazing, providing a bright, tranquil and modern compression or overflow space. To further elevate the courtyard, multi-award-winning artist Shoso Shimbo was commissioned to create a sculpture which resembles a magnolia flower during the stages of bloom.
