I arrived in Sydney fresh from working on the Aquatic Centre ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games in London with Zaha Hadid Architects, and eager for a new challenge. Although I began my career at APP as a graphic designer, my enthusiasm for project management was immediately clear and within 7 months I moved into a new role as an Assistant Project Manager. My passion for projects had begun, with one highlight being part of the delivery team for the development of the Nan Tien Educational and Cultural Centre in Wollongong, south of Sydney. This unique, award-winning project allowed me to expand my knowledge and skills in process creation, financial management and stakeholder engagement.
My appointment as the Queensland State Manager for APP’s first national program, the rollout of the Westpac retail branch refit, presented the opportunity to progress my career. Just one year later I became the National Manager for this program. Being new to Australia I was lucky to deliver sites in a number of cities I wouldn’t otherwise have had the chance to visit. With Westpac I travelled to Darwin, Townsville, Noosa and Katherine as well as all of Australia’s capital cities.
In 2017 I was promoted to the role of Project Director for Westpac and Goodstart Early Learning Programs, managing multiple projects concurrently. I’m also the Design Manager for the InvoCare Network and Brand Optimisation Program.
Being in a leadership role within APP’s rapidly growing Program Solutions division, the most fulfilling aspects of my job are building close relationships with my clients, contractors and team. We work together with our clients from the initial program implementation through to completion on site and have delivered sites across Australia with accelerated programs, reduced impact to site openings and ever decreasing defects. I have a wide range of responsibilities that I am passionate about including leadership, staff mentoring and development, program strategy, business development, design management and project delivery.
I was thrilled when my work on Westpac was recognised by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). After attending my first NAWIC awards as an Assistant Project Manager I set a goal to win an award and in 2016 was presented with a Merit Award for Project Management at the NSW NAWIC Women in Construction event. I was also a finalist in our parent company Broadspectrum’s Tony Shepherd Contract Manager Award. These accolades have given me great personal satisfaction and I look forward to further challenges in 2018.
