I started out as a Project Coordinator working with the National Defence Team on Defence Tenders. As an Assistant Project Manager I have been working on Lightning Ridge HealthOne. I absolutely love travelling and exploring new places so being able to venture out to the weird and wacky Lightning Ridge has definitely been a highlight for me. On top of that, knowing you are working towards building much needed facilities for a remote community is really special.
The most recent project I’ve been working on is The Glen – A Rehabilitation Centre for Indigenous men on the Central Coast. We have a good relationship with them through our yearly Touch Football competitions with The Glen, APP and North Construction. We are now working with North Construction to assist The Glen to secure funding to update the current facilities at the Men’s Centre and obtain a new site to build a Women’s Centre. I always enjoy visiting The Glen and am excited to contribute in a small way to their growth.
The team in Newcastle are an amazing community in themselves. There is a great morale with open communication within the project teams. I am able to and feel comfortable asking a million questions and everyone takes the time to show, teach and encourage me.
In the short-term, if funding is secured I would love to work on The Glen Centre for Women. On this project I would be able to continue my growth within my role and the industry whilst pursuing my interest in working with not for profits and grass roots organisations. The Glen Centre for Women will be creating positive change within the Indigenous community in the Hunter and Central Coast and I would love to be a part of that.
