WA Museum Collection and Research Centre Project Brief

Creating the roadmap for a critical museum upgrade project.

The APP Group was appointed by the Office of Strategic Projects to prepare a project brief for the upgrade of the Western Australian Museum's Collection and Research Centre (CRC). The CRC is the location for the safe storage and preservation of up to 90 per cent of the State's collection of planetary science, social history, archaeological, anthropological and maritime history objects and specimens. In addition, the facility houses research facilities and design and construction workshops for exhibitions and displays at the WA Museum.

The CRC facility was proposing to expand its 'wet store', which houses all the specimens preserved in formaldehyde/ethanol, provide additional research laboratories and expand its workshop capabilities. The works are required in preparation for the new WA Museum project which is planned by the State. Our role was to engage with key stakeholders and external consultants to define the scope of the project whilst making sure it aligned with the budget allowance.
