Explosive Ordnance Logistics
Project details:
APP plays central role in the $500m Logistics Reform Program for Defence Explosive Ordnance
The Australian Defence Force has established a specific Directorate – the Directorate of EO Logistics Reform – to examine and reform the logistics management of Explosive Ordnance storage and supply. APP was contracted to restructure, redesign, and commence implementation of the reform program, a 10-year program with a budget of over $500m.
Early in the review, a change-out of core Defence staff required the APP role to immediately step up to a key management position. As a result, APP also became the primary client representative for an independent review of the reform program.
One outcome of our role was the adoption of formal, highly-structured management processes to ensure that the program would be auditable at all times.
In addition to our central role in the independent review, key aspects of the project included:
- delivery of a highly flexible management methodology to meet unique and dynamic management issues;
- ongoing stakeholder engagement and interaction at all levels in Defence;
- interaction and communication with other Defence programs to ensure that all mganagement aspects of the EO Reform Program were fully considered; and
a restructure of the logistics reform program, covering strategy, resource planning, distribution, procurement, and training.
