Ian Maxted
Chief Executive Officer
Since joining APP in 1990 Ian has concentrated on project management and is a specialist in business development and major projects across health, industrial and public sectors. Prior to becoming Chief Executive in mid 2008 Ian combined his role as Chief Operating Officer with Project Director, advising on various commissions with a focus on development management and feasibility. In the years leading up to this appointment Ian was instrumental in growing APP’s core capabilities nationally as General Manager, Project Management. He was responsible for delivering significant projects such as the $100M Science Facility and Research Institute for Sydney’s UTS, ALDI’s 600,000m2 Distribution Centres and the new Sydney Showground.
Paul Spinolo
Group General Manager
Paul is responsible nationally for APP’s core businesses encompassing Project Management, Business Consulting Services and Infrastructure & Urban Development. Critical to this role is Paul’s leadership and supporting skills to the APP General Managers of each division and Branch Managers nationally. Paul has a background in construction and has focused on client side project management services for the last 15 years. He is highly respected across a range of project types and has managed a number of APP’s larger Corporate Accommodation projects including Head Offices for Westpac and MarshMercer in Sydney and NAB’s new Head Office in Melbourne. Paul is currently assisting the Victorian office in the delivery of ANZ’s new Head Office at Docklands.
Stephen Sanlorenzo
General Manager, Operations
Stephen’s role as General Manager - Operations focuses on managing and expanding APP’s operational services nationally. He has been with APP since 1994, growing into the role of Project Director and working on several high profile projects for APP across a variety of sectors including health, aged care, education, retail, commercial and industrial. Since 2000 Stephen has been involved as Client Representative in several major commercial office projects, including the Optus Centre for Stockland and new commercial office towers for Dexus (formerly DBRREEF) in Sydney and Brisbane. He has also acted on behalf of Tenants in other projects for KPMG and American Express.
Adam Castro
General Manager, Project Management
As General Manager Project Management, Adam is required to steer the expansion of APP’s core capabilities nationally. Adam has been with APP since 1993 and has a strong background in project management and administration of complex construction projects. He has also led APP’s program management of multi-site capital works projects. He has a comprehensive knowledge of the various delivery methods available to projects and the role these play in minimizing exposure to project risks.
Jeff Sharp
General Manager, Infrastructure & Urban Development
Jeff is a specialist in planning, design construction and maintenance of transport infrastructure (road and rail) and urban development projects. His career in infrastructure projects spans 30 years across Australia, the UK, Africa and the Caribbean. In Australia, Jeff has worked with major infrastructure providers including URS, Egis, CMPS&F and Sinclair Knight and directed multi-billion dollar projects including the $4.0bn Brisbane Airport Link and Northern Busway Projects in Brisbane, QLD and acted as Independent Verifier and Banks’ Engineer Representative on the $1.1bn Lane Cove Tunnel Project in Sydney, NSW.
Jeff also has a background in urban development where he was Project Manager/Director on a number of major residential/tourist developments as well as serving as Development Manager for a
Sarina Pickering
General Manager, Business Consulting Services
Sarina has 25 years’ experience in senior management and consulting roles at various levels with a key focus on operational management, coaching and mentoring, strategy design and implementation, program and project management, strategic outsourcing and sales. Sarina’s professional expertise is in devising and driving major change in organisations, through expert consulting and the introduction of new ideas and innovation. She has held senior roles with ANZ and Planpower and is now working closely with several APP clients to drive organisational change in their businesses.
Harry Carrick
General Manager, Strategy & Development
Harry is responsible for growing APP's business in offering strategic advice for projects. He has extensive experience in the public and private sectors across projects such as hospitals, universities, residential, commercial and civic developments. Harry has also worked in the construction and development industries on major projects throughout Australia, South East Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Harry's specialist skills are complemented by 20 years of business management and advisory experience. His leadership as managing director, chairman and director of companies in Australia, South East Asia and Europe enables him to deliver business insights and understanding of stakeholder issues - people, process, financial - that affect project decisions and outcomes.

Peter Kay
Event Alliance International
Peter has the “hands-on” experience in a significant number of major events and projects throughout Australia. Peter was an integral part of the APP Events team for many years and worked as Project Director or Senior Event Manager on Volvo Ocean Race Sydney Stopover, Rally of Canberra, Rally Australia, World Expo 2000, OCA Road Event Coordination and the Sydney 2000 Olympics. As GM of APP’s Events division, PK had overall responsibility for all events including the Flora the Flora Sydney Marathon (Race Director) 2002-2004, Australia Day Fun Run 2003-04, Beef Expo in Rockhampton and 2003 World BMX Championships.
He formed Event Alliance International in 2005 and continues to work with APP on national events, using his wide network of contacts in the Events industry.
Malcolm Trowell
BPS
Malcolm Trowell has over 30 years of technology, construction and management experience gained from delivering projects for major clients. He combines a unique blend of technology, operational management and construction knowledge to projects and is a recognised leader in infrastructure projects in the industry.
Malcolm’s profile and experience in the industry has helped him to develop senior relationships with major technology companies, corporations and government departments and the leading construction groups, architects, property developers and financiers. Through his company, BPS, Malcolm works for APP on a number of our technology projects.
