Adelaide Desalination Plant

Project details:

APP engaged as Independent Verifier for Adelaide Desalination Project

APP has been appointed as Independent Verifier on the $1.8bn South Australian Desalination Project located at Lonsdale, near Adelaide. The appointment was made jointly by SA Water and AdelaideAqua D&C Consortium, and APP was selected based on the verification knowledge and background that only APP can bring to a project.

The Desalination Plant, when finished, will provide secure sources of water to Adelaide, regardless of climactic conditions. The new plant will reduce reliance on inflows to the reservoirs in the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Murray-Darling Basin catchments by delivering a supply of 100 gigalitres of potable water per year.

The project comprises two 50 gigalitre Reverse Osmosis plants and two underground tunnels for seawater intake and return to the sea.

As Independent Verifier, APP’s core service is to verify that the design and construction are carried out in accordance with the contract requirements. This is achieved through observing, monitoring, reviewing, auditing and verifying the quality assurance and project management systems and the design documentation, construction, materials and operations and maintenance procedures of the project.
